At around 1515hrs on Wednesday August 30th,2006 Squad 270 received a run for a phone alarm reporting smoke from the house adjacent to the callers at 116 st between 91 Ave and Atlantic Ave.  Within 2 minutes Squad 270 pulled up to a 2 1/2 story private dwelling with heavy smoke pushing from the front and fire out the windows on the right side of the house burning the house next door.  Squad 270 transmitted a 2nd alarm and went to work.  Due to a faulty hydrant 270 chauffeur asked the 2nd due engine to supply them from another hydrant.  Which turned out to be a bad hydrant as well. So the 3rd due engine finally had a good working hydrant which supplied 270's rig.   Sq-270 knocked down all the fire on the 1st floor and then they where relieved.  Fire was under control after an hour or so. No one was injured.
